SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Spurs successfully clinched their first win of the Summer League season on Tuesday night by defeating the Chinese National Team 89-67 in the Sacramento Classic competition.
San Antonio's roster featured standout performance from the newly drafted players and established professionals alike. In this particular contest, Stephon Castle emerged as a key performer for the Spurs with his commable contributions – he scored an impressive 18 points along with securing six rebounds and dishing out five assists. The first round pick also had notable support in fellow team members; Harrison Ingram, another draft prospect from the second round, contributed significantly by scoring 16 points alongside racking up a double-double of 10 rebounds. Furthermore, Jamaree Bouyea, who plays as a point guard for the Spurs, scored 14 points while providing vital leadership with five assists.
The Spurs managed to mntn control throughout the game and led 29-20 at the of the first quarter. A steady lead was later established by Team China, which narrowed down to just three points 47-44 heading into halftime.
In a significant third-quarter push, San Antonio regned its momentum and stretched their lead to as much as 64-51 thanks to an impressive assist from Bouyea to Ingram.
Team China responded with a scoreless four-minute stint late in the quarter, which facilitated an opportunity for the Spurs to ext their advantage through an 11-2 run.
In the final stretch of the game, San Antonio limited Team China's scoring to just seven points, thus allowing the Spurs to increase their lead by up to 20 points.
Sanning Liao, a standout player for Team China, ed with a total of 17 points, six rebounds, and three assists in this losing effort.
The Spurs are set to embark on their next challenge at the Las Vegas NBA Summer League competition.
