In an exciting prelude to the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the Australian men’s and women’s basketball teams engaged with their Chinese counterparts at the John Cn Arena in Melbourne from July 2nd to July 5th. These matches were part of the Ford Ballin’ 24 series med to fine-tune preparations for what promises to be an intense Olympic tournament.
On July 2nd, the Australian men’s team, colloquially known as 'The Boomers', made their debut with a resounding victory agnst China, scoring 107 points compared to China's 87. The competition continued on the following Thursday when they secured another win, this time by a margin of 91-58.

On July 3rd, it was the women's team, often referred to as 'The Opals', who took center stage. They convincingly overcame China in both matches - firstly by accumulating a total of 94 points versus China’s 66 on Wednesday and then clinching another victory with a scoreline of 91-63 on Friday.
As for China, while they were unable to match the Australian women's team's prowess, their spirited performances showcased the strength within their ranks.
Notably, Australia mntned an impressive record agnst China throughout the series.
The Australian men's and women’s basketball teams' journeys do not here; they will travel to Abu Dhabi for additional warm-up matches agnst the USA and Serbia before heading to Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games.
